GitHub integration for websites built from a repository

Updated 21 Oct 2026 · Written and checked by the AI Marketing Master team, Shivah Web Tech

Short answer

If your website is built from a GitHub repository, AI Marketing Master can deliver each approved blog post as a pull request on a new branch. You or your developer review and merge it on GitHub. With extra read access, the app also shows when your hosting has deployed the post. It never changes your main branch, never merges and never deploys.

Made for developer-built websites

Many modern business websites are not built on WordPress. A developer keeps the code in GitHub, and posts are files in a folder. That is safe and fast, but it means the owner cannot just press Publish; every post needs the developer.

This integration keeps the developer in control while removing the copying and pasting. The marketing side writes and approves the post; the developer gets a clean pull request to check.

What each approved post becomes

  • A new branch created from your base branch.
  • One new file for the post in the folder you chose, content/blog by default.
  • One pull request describing the post, ready for review.
  • A deploy status in the app after the pull request is merged, if you gave read access to deployments and commit statuses.
  • A check that the post is live on your site before it is shown as Verified.

Access the token needs

Use a fine-grained GitHub token that can reach only this one repository. It needs read and write access to the repository's contents and to pull requests. For deploy status, also give it read access to deployments and commit statuses. It does not need admin rights, access to other repositories or access to your organisation's settings.

Connect a repository

  • In GitHub, create a fine-grained token limited to your website repository with the access above.
  • In AI Marketing Master, open the Connections screen and find Website on GitHub.
  • Enter the repository as owner and name, for example your-company/website, and paste the token.
  • Set the base branch your site is built from, or leave it empty to use the default branch.
  • Choose the folder for post files, or leave it empty for content/blog. Press Connect GitHub; the app checks it can see the repository and write to it.

Safety and data

The token is stored encrypted and never shown again. The app only creates a branch, a file and a pull request per post, and reads deploy information if allowed. Disconnecting changes nothing in the repository: open pull requests stay on GitHub for you to merge or close. If the token expires or is deleted, the status says so and asks for a new one.

Points to agree with your developer

  • The file format your site expects for posts, so the post appears correctly after merge.
  • Who reviews and merges pull requests, and how quickly.
  • Whether your hosting reports deployments to GitHub, so deploy status can show.
  • How featured images are handled in your site's build.

What it does not do

  • Posts go live only after a person merges the pull request on GitHub.
  • The post file format must match what your site's build expects; your developer may need to adjust it.
  • Deploy status needs extra read access and hosting that reports to GitHub.

Questions people ask

Will it push straight to my main branch?

No. It always works on a new branch with a pull request. It never changes the base branch, never merges and never deploys.

Do I need GitHub skills to use it?

The owner approves posts in the app as usual. Someone who knows GitHub should create the token and review the pull requests.

Does it fix SEO problems in my code?

No. Automatic SEO fixes work on WordPress only. The audit still explains problems so your developer can fix them.

Which hosting services show deploy status?

Any hosting that reports deployments or commit statuses back to GitHub. If yours does not, the pull request still works; only the deploy status will be missing.

What if my developer closes a pull request without merging?

The post does not go live, so it will not be marked Verified. You can see the pull request on GitHub and ask the developer what needs changing.
