Short answer
Google Business Profile performance shows how people found and used your profile: views on Search and Maps, the search words they used, and actions such as calls, website clicks, direction requests, messages and bookings. Compare each month with the previous month and with the same month last year, focus on actions rather than views, and look for a cause before reacting to any change.
The numbers, one by one
- Profile views or interactions: how many people saw your profile, split by Google Search and Google Maps, and phone or computer.
- Searches: the words people typed when your profile showed. Useful for learning how customers describe you.
- Calls: taps on the call button from your profile.
- Website clicks: taps through to your website.
- Direction requests: people asking Google for a route to you. A strong sign of intent to visit.
- Messages and bookings: shown only where those features are switched on for your business.
Which numbers matter most
Views are interesting but noisy. A clinic cares about calls and bookings; a restaurant about directions and calls; a shop with online orders about website clicks. Pick the two actions that turn into money for you and watch those first.
Remember that these are Google's numbers, rounded and sometimes delayed. They show trends well but are not an exact count of customers.
Comparing months fairly
Month-over-month shows recent direction, but seasons distort it. A sweet shop's October will beat its July whatever you do, because of Diwali. A tutor's numbers dip in exam holidays. So also look at the same month last year when you have it.
Check how many days and weekends each month had, and whether the profile had any closures, special hours or a suspension in either month.
When a number drops
- Look at the profile first: did hours, category, address or phone change?
- Check for a new competitor nearby or a road closure.
- See if Google changed how it counts something; numbers can shift across all profiles at once.
- Check if reviews took a hit recently.
- Wait a second month before big changes unless the cause is obvious.
Turning numbers into actions
Each month, write one sentence about what changed and one thing you will do. For example: Direction requests fell after we changed to winter hours; we will post the new hours and update the website. Small, steady actions beat big reactions to one month's swing.
How AI Marketing Master presents it
With your profile connected (this depends on Google's API approval for the platform), the app compares the profile numbers Google provides with the previous month, for each location. The monthly report explains in plain English what went up, what went down and one suggested next step, and you can share it as a PDF or link. The app does not show where you appear on the map street by street; there is no local rank grid.
What it does not do
- Numbers come from Google and are only available after the profile connection, which needs Google's API approval for the platform.
- Month-over-month comparison only; no local rank grid.
Questions people ask
Why do my views go up but calls stay flat?
More people are seeing you, but something on the profile is not convincing them. Check photos, reviews, hours and whether your call button number is right.
Are the search words complete?
No. Google shows a selection and hides very small counts. Treat them as hints about customer language.
Can I see the numbers for my competitors?
No. Profile performance is private to each business's owners and managers.
Does the app compare with last year?
The built-in comparison is month over month. Year-on-year checks can be done in Google's own performance screen.
How soon do new numbers appear?
Google's numbers usually arrive with a short delay, so the latest few days may look low. Judge a month once it has fully finished.
