How AI creative credits work

Updated 21 Oct 2026 · Written and checked by the AI Marketing Master team, Shivah Web Tech

Short answer

Creative credits are the units AI Marketing Master uses to pay for AI image work in the Creative Studio. When you start a job, the credits it needs are held. If the image is made, they are used; if the job fails, they are given back. Credits are separate from the monthly AI spending cap that protects the whole account.

Why credits exist

Every generated image is made by an outside AI provider that charges per job. Some jobs, like placing a product in a detailed scene, cost more to run than others. Credits turn those changing costs into one simple balance you can see, instead of surprise bills at the end of the month.

What uses credits

  • Product photo studio: clean backgrounds and scenes from your product photos.
  • Social graphics for posts and carousels.
  • Featured images for blog posts.
  • Ad images made from product photos.
  • Reel editor exports work differently: they are counted against a monthly limit for rendering on our server.

Hold, use or give back: the life of one job

  • You start a job. The app checks you have enough credits and holds them, so the same credits cannot be spent twice by another job running at the same time.
  • The job goes to the AI provider.
  • If a usable image comes back and is saved, the held credits are used.
  • If the job fails, for example because the provider errored, the held credits are released back to your balance.
  • If you do not have enough credits, the job does not start, and nothing is spent.

Credits and the monthly AI spending cap are different things

Credits measure image work. The monthly AI spending cap is a wider safety net over all paid AI in your account, including writing and voice. As the cap gets close, the app warns you and stops extra AI features first; when the cap is reached, all paid AI stops until the next month or until the cap is changed. So it is possible to have credits left and still be paused by the cap, and the billing screen shows both.

Getting more from each credit

  • Write a clear brief the first time: subject, setting, light, shape and empty space.
  • Start product work from a sharp, well-lit phone photo, so fewer retries are needed.
  • Reuse images from the media library instead of generating near-identical ones each week.
  • Change the caption, not the picture, when only the words need updating.
  • Use your own photos for real people and places; they cost nothing and build more trust.

A worked example of a busy week

Say a bakery starts four product scenes on Monday morning for its Navratri posts. Credits for all four are held at once. Three images come back fine and their credits are used. The fourth fails because the provider returns an error, so its credits return to the balance, and the owner simply starts it again. Nothing is charged twice, and the balance on the billing page always reflects what was really made.

Seeing and topping up your balance

Your billing page shows your plan, modules and credits. For the current amounts included in each plan and how to add more, see the pricing page.

What it does not do

  • A successful image uses credits even if you later decide not to use it.
  • Text-to-video generation is not offered yet, so there are no credits for it today.
  • Credit amounts per job and plan amounts are shown in the app and on the pricing page, not here.

Questions people ask

Do I lose credits if an image fails?

No. Credits are held when the job starts and given back if it fails.

What if I do not like an image that was made successfully?

A successful image uses its credits, even if you decide not to use it. A better brief before you start is the easiest way to avoid waste.

How much does a credit cost?

Prices are not public yet. See the pricing page for current plans and credits.

Can a team member spend all my credits?

Credits come from the account balance, and the monthly AI spending cap stops paid AI when it is reached. Give each team member only the role they need, and keep an eye on the balance in billing.
